Course Description Beyond Worksheets™ is a practical professional-learning course designed to help educators create meaningful, student-centered learning experiences beyond traditional paper-and-pencil activities. Participants will explore strategies that promote student voice, critical thinking, discussion, creativity, collaboration, real-world application, and independent learning while maintaining clear structure and academic expectations. Course Purpose This course helps educators shift the focus from: Completion → Understanding → Application → Independence Educators will learn how to determine when worksheets are useful, when another learning experience may be more effective, and how to create opportunities for students to demonstrate understanding in different ways. Learning Objectives By the end of this course, participants will be able to: • Recognize the difference between task completion and meaningful learning. • Use worksheets intentionally rather than automatically. • Design learning experiences that encourage student thinking and participation. • Incorporate student voice, choice, discussion, creativity, and application. • Provide structure while allowing students greater ownership of their learning. • Create opportunities for students to demonstrate what they know beyond traditional written assignments. • Reflect on their instructional practices and identify practical changes they can implement immediately.
